SUMMARY OF DUTIES

Provide educational instruction within a learning skills environment for youth seeking academic support while attending their home schools. The tutor will provide instructional lesson plans for individual youth ranging in age from 6-23 years in a manner that meets their individual need. Participates in implementing a trauma-informed approach to education and behavior management that promotes relationship building, pro-social behaviors, cooperative learning, self-help skills, academic achievement, and strengthening daily living skills. Works with the treatment team to help support the youth and family's goals.


EDUCATION AND TRAINING REQUIREMENTS

  • Four-Year College Degree from a school accredited by a recognized accrediting agency - general major. Requires basic knowledge or training in a specialized or technical field or trade, such as social work, professional accounting, finance, business administration, and marketing.

EXPERIENCE

  • Over one year, up to and including two years.

SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED

  • Must have experience working with special education students and students with adverse childhood experiences.
  • Must have ability to work within a trauma-informed approach to providing educational and behavioral supports.
  • Strongly Preferred: Experience with high-risk adolescent populations

OTHER POSITION REQUIREMENTS

  • This job requires a valid Hawaii driver's license and a clear driver's abstract and continued employment may be contingent on maintaining a clear driver's abstract.
  • This job requires a valid Hawaii driver's license, a clear driver's abstract, and willingness to travel in personal vehicle on an as-needed basis throughout the island.
  • Verification of licensure/certification will be required at time of appointment/hire, and continued employment is contingent on maintaining licensure/certification.
  • This position is subject to a criminal background investigation and continued employment is contingent on a record clear of convictions.
  • Continued employment in this position is contingent on successful completion of CPI classes OR other Behavioral Management certification as may be contract-mandated.
  • Continued employment in this position is contingent on successful completion of CPR, First Aid, AED classes.
